Dr. Randie J. Willand, O.D.
Dr. Willand graduated from Assumption College with a bachelor's degree in Biology in 1996 and completed her doctorate degree in optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 2000. She has been practicing in Vermont ever since and purchased Waterbury Eye Care Center in the Fall of 2010. Dr. Willand sees patients of all ages emphasing on quality and comprehensive eye care with compassion.
10/19/23 Note regarding vision plans:
After much deliberation, I have decided to end my provider status with EyeMed Vision Plans (effective immediately) and Vision Service Plan (VSP) effective January 1, 2024.
Unfortunately, it is simply no longer sustainable to accept these vision plans, due to their low reimbursement rates, coupled with the hours and costs of the administrative work it takes to submit the claims to these companies. I have, tirelessly, contemplated what I could do differently in order to continue to be a provider. The only options are not ones I am willing to implement: reduced time I spend with my patients, and selling only insurance owned frame brands with lower quality lens materials. Simply, it has reached a point where it is impossible for me to offer the same quality products and services while being an in-network provider for these vision insurance companies.
As the patient, you have the option of submitting to these companies directly. However, you will want to be aware of how the coverage changes seeing an out-of-network provider. I will continue to take medical insurance, for those whose routine vision is provided under their medical insurance and for those who require an examination for medical reasons.
In eliminating these large corporations, dominating the vision world, I will be able to restructure the fees associated with eye exams, frames, and lenses. My fees will be fair, transparent, and I will continue to offer quality products while giving you all the time you deserve.
